I have an 01 2500hd regular cab I bought new. It had one of the engines that sounded like the lifters were noisy. Got the engine replaced at almost 60,000 miles(extended warranty I have 185,000 miles on it now, the only 2 front wheel bearings, universal joints---normal wear, the brake lines rusted out, needed them replaced, fuel sending/fuel pump, and new calipers all around. The old engine never used oil, the replacement has never used any oil. The main problem is I think some of the counties in southern Michigan get a kickback on salt. Every time there is a sign of snow, they are out salting the roads. The rocker panels and doors are rusting and the bumper is not in god shape. 16 year old truck, I can't complain too much. I looked for at least 6 months at used trucks, anything with any warranty on them were pretty pricy. My main concern with used ones, especially the hd's are that I've seen a lot of them being "rode hard", so you don't know what any have been through. They say check car max or whatever it is called, but that is only as good as the information that is put into it. I ended up with a new 4 door 2500hd 4 door, never cared for the looks of the extended cabs. If I keep this one for 16 years, I don't figure I'll want another truck , I'll be sneaking up on 90 by then, if I am still around. My 2cents!

I was thirteen, and Kathy (my oldest sister) was seven. At this age, I believed tractor farming was the only way, hot stuff -- and given a chance I probably would have used the tractor, Dad's first, a 1936 Model "A" John Deere, to go bring in the cows! And I think Dad was ready for some automation too. And so it was that we acquired a good, used J. I. Case, wire tie hay baler. In addition to a person to drive th
