I have an old Case 442 that would go through 2 or 3 belts a summer.
Tried the fancy ones, the green ones, the 6 sided ones, the ones from the dealership, none lasted any longer than the others.
Broke a belt one weekend and did not have a spare, went out to the shop a grabbed a B series belt that was a spare for the swather that was the right length, that belt has been on it for 8+ years now and still looks like new.
It is fatter than the proper belt and sticks out of the pulleys somewhat but that has not caused any issues.
