I should have mentioned the frank discussions that were had in September of my freshman year at college. Two professors on the first day before any material was covered discussed the suitability of people pursuing an ag degree if the student was coming from a bad situation in terms of the farm being in heavy debt, poor net income, and inflexible-incapable older generation running the farm. The bottom line was if you faced any those problems and your gut tells you that will not change that there is no honor lost by getting up and out of the classroom and change your major or even going back home to contemplate your next move. People might be upset with your choice at the moment but you will be a whole lot happier ten years down the road.
