I'm not familiar with JD 4100 electrics. However in any case of an overcharging alternator cause is either a defective regulator or the regulator not sensing system voltage.
Could be your new regulator failed after only a week - it happens occasionally. More likely however the cause is the regulator not sensing voltage. Look for a poor ground to the regulator or an open circuit in the regulator "sense" wire.
