If going older used I'd have to go with the Ford 3/4000. The 4000 puts you in the 50 HP ballpark. Ford parts are available aftermarket (online and local parts stores) and OEM from New Holland and CaseIH dealers. Massey Ferguson and Allis Chalmers. Those are supposed to be supported by AGCO dealers. That can be hit or miss. All depends on the dealer. And if the dealer is further away that can be an issue too. It will vary area to area and dealer to dealer. Here for example it's 25 miles to CaseIH and JD. It's 60 to AGCO and the dealer doesn't carry much in older equipment parts inventory. So if you want/need it now you got next day shipping. Other dealers can be great. Check out the dealers near you by talking to farmers in the area.
On the other hand newer to new is sometimes the way to go. Time if the governing factor. If you have time to keep an old tractor up then old is good. If reduced maintenance is what you want then go newer.
