June 1981 I had a compound fracture and dislocated left ankle, eight days in the hospital, two more weeks in bed and don't think I could drive for another couple weeks or more. Seventeen weeks off work total. Fortunately for me my neighbor had a big Cat dozer buried to the top of the tracks and I'd ride my garden tractor over every day for a couple of hours and watch him try to get it out. After I could drive and was off the pain pills I'd take my Corvette for a ride every day, just bought the car a few months before I got hurt. You never know, I ended up marrying one of my nurses, anything can happen.
