Matt : Here is my take on your question. First all I am very bias as I have been selling and servicing KUBOTA for 28 + years. Over the years I do not know how many times I have seen folks like you show up at the dealership. They bought a small farm and wanted a tractor, what they bought was a 30 year old 2 wheel wore out tractor that someone had stuck a paint job overhaul on . Got it home some little something like needs a battery, $ 65.00 next water pump $ 125.00 next month clutch went out (ouch ) $1500 bucks then more problems. They show up at the dealership with the tractor wanting to trade, got to be worth $8,500 I gave $5,500 and have spent 3 grand on it. Sorry just not the way it works. You say you want to stay before 2000 model. Nothing to worry about on up another 10 years on the Kubota. If you shop you might find a 45 hp 4 wheel KUBOTA with loader around your 15 thousand dollar figure and you will be farther ahead 5 years form now. Nothing wrong with old tractors if you want to work on them but if you want to work the tractor find something newer. I am in the minority here on this board but sure have seen it happen many times. Flip side I have seen the guy that went on and bought the 4 wheel loader tractor and him tell me Man I sure am glad I listened to you. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.
