Do not import but pick up stuff often at the New Orleans docks.
If you are bringing in a entire container load you will be allowed to pick up your container with the right clearance. IE: You need a TWIC card to even get on the property.
If you are bringing in pallets of stuff it will be unloaded and put into a warehouse while it goes threw customs. We pick up everything we haul with only a pickup number so anyone can do it. Some of our warehouses face the street so no TWIC card is needed but if the warehouse is inside the port you still need the right clearance to get on the property.
Your import broker should help you with customs and setting up pickup by your designated carrier that could be yourself.
