A lot of people think what they have "in it" has bearing on what its worth. The fact someone bought a tractor for $3000 then spent $4000 on the engine doesn't mean they have a $7000 tractor.
You'll see it with cars and trucks too. I just spent $3000 on the transmission so I need to get that back. No - you are now selling a truck with a working transmission - it might give you a little value but every other truck like it has a working transmission - the fact yours might been abused or neglected so that the transmission needed replaced certainly doesn't add much if any value.
Then you have the people that think because its old it must be an antique and therefor valuable.
