Don't take this the wrong way, I think it's great that you have someone who is skilled to help you out with this stuff. I will say though. You don't understand how these business minds think. (We have business school to thank for this) They are taught that good help is as plentiful as sand on the beach. Some businesses are alright with you helping a friend out. Other's are not. I worked for a business that gave me chit for working on stuff at home that I didn't own. And by didn't own, I mean my father owned it. They owned the rights to work on all colours of farm equipment in this province, and if the ownership/receipt didn't have my name on it, I wasn't to be working on it. I worked at a satellite store, and after I raised enough cain the main store set him straight. I did end up quiting shortly after though, for that and other reasons.
