It's a scam.
Sure they don't MENTION any "extra money" now, but when the check arrives, it will be written for several thousand dollars more than the asking price of the item. "OOPS!" they will say, "Would you please kindly as to cash the check and forward the excess on to so-and-so, and keep $X for your trouble?"
Deal locally in cash. Ignore these scam emails. Don't even be tempted by them.
