I saw the post about tapered rod bearing shims. I never used them, but I have heard of them years ago. One of a few things that were done years ago, that aren't done anymore. Has any one heard of grinding a crank rod bearing surface, while the crank was still in the car? I found it hard to believe , but I seen it done on a chevy 6. Some how the machine was mounted to the rear wheel to turn the motor. A grinder was hooked to the crank with a small stone to grind the crank to size as the crank slowly turned. Believe it or not. Do you remember anything that was done years ago that isn't practiced now, on motors. stan
