We had quite a time that's for sure. For a farm boy who never spent a night away from home to meet a beauty queen in person was the thrill of a lifetime. I still to this day remember the names of two guys from another school who we had never met before and never ran in to again to the best of my knowledge. They were quite the characters. I drove my Chevy II through the fence in front of the Ionia County Airport on the way home. Somebody pulled out to pass and I had to take the ditch to keep from getting hit head on. Wayne's aunt passed away the day before my aunt did and he brought up that story at the luncheon after her funeral. Good times.
