rrlund and kenl's answer to the fuel tanks contradict each other, had a 1978 2-105 back in 1978 and I cant be for certain who's correct but I think kenl is correct, vented cap on bottom tank. if I remember correctly the fuel line that connected the two tanks was routed from the bottom tank to the very top of the top tank, wouldn't make much sense for the top tank to drain into the bottom tank when the sending gauge is in the top tank. but I may be wrong also, buy a owners manual.
not every diesel of the same make is going to start the same in cold weather, condition of the engine is going to be the deciding factor along with the condition of the starting system ( starter condition and battery cables )
