This thread reminded me of the near evening in 1953, testing out dad's newly mounted JD226 picker on the '37 A...talk about underpower! You could only pull a partially loaded barge box in low gear in his hills. But I was fascinated watching the small dust particles sparkling in the cherry red manifold under the gas tank.
Had to take the steering wheel off and use it with a short shaft poked through a hole in the side of the picker to engage the flywheel center to start the durn thing. Don't remember how we got the petcocks open and shut, must have crawled under it. Leo
