Supposedly, in my state, the county computers know if you have current insurance or not. That way they can refuse you a tag upon renewing that if you don't. That way they know if you got bogus paperwork, or if your paper work reveals its currently paid up, when actually it is not. So my question is, why is a proof of insurance card even nescisary anymore? When they run your tag through the good old computer system, that right there should prove you have insurance. And you know good and well they run your tag! They dont get out of their car before getting the results of running your tag.
