I've been to those kind of sales. Serious buyers willing to pay decent money are long gone when the valuable stuff comes up. A fellow can only take so many wagons where they're selling by the corner for $1 before he thinks of something else he should be doing at home. All you have left at dark when the big ticket items start selling is the scrappers and the jockeys looking to steal something. A clean sale will always bring more money than a junk sale.
A reasonably intelligent person can decide what is valuable and what is junk as well as or better than an auctioneer. everyone here knows not to toss a hit n' miss engine or anvil or wheel weights, but a corner of rusted out empty paint cans or a pile of worn out moldboards? Ship'em!
