If it is sound mechanically, $2,000 is a good place to start. If you do a proper paint job, you will have more than the tractor is worth in it, but then any kind of major tractor repair on a "yesterdays tractor" will cost you more than you can resell it for. If it is worth it to you, what anyone else thinks is irrelevant. The start on gas and switch to diesel worked quite well on our old TD-14 dozer. When it was 20 below zero you had to use a couple of gallons of gas to warm that huge motor up enough to switch to diesel, but it never failed to start if the batteries could turn the motor over. I would think an MD would be fun to mess around with.
