By the time you add up motels (four to six nights), 1,600 miles of fuel and wear on the truck, 3,200 miles of fuel and wear on your other vehicle, and two people's time for six days of driving, you will be well over $1,000 to retrieve the truck. Renting a car trailer and towing the extra vehicle for the return trip would eliminate the need for a second driver and will cost less than driving both vehicles home (about $250 for a car trailer one way?).
