If they want it gone fast, hire a reputable scrapper to come in and load up all the obvious scrap iron on halves, or whatever is fair in your area. If it's like you described and a bunch of work, they'll get more than half. Be present when they're working, so nothing worth more than scrap iron (anvils, vises, tractor weights, good tools, etc) finds its way on the truck.
After the obvious scrap is cleaned up and you have room to work, get everything lined up and hire and online auction service to come in, take pictures, and list the sale. Seems things are bringing pretty good prices online, and lots of people like to sit in the comfort of thier own home, scroll through pictures, and place a bid.
It's gonna be a lot of work, no matter what. Sounds like you're just there to keep them from being fleeced. Good luck.
