Nearest town of about 1500 had a WW small grocery store move in. They had a couple of dollar stores and a mom and pop grocery.
WW Lasted about 6 months and closed their doors....news said WW tried the small store in the small town thing, apparently to crowd out the dollar stores and after about 6 months when it didn't fit their business profit model they closed about 250. All 3 of the others stores mentioned survived the invasion. Now a mom and pop chain moved in the vacated WW store. Chain has regular super markets in the area and is a good place to shop as is the small store. We'll see what happens.
Two towns up the road the about the same sized town had the same deal. That grocery closed. WW pulled out at the same time there too and those folks were up the creek. Looks like the mom and pop chain saved the day for them.
