It's a pickle, isn't it? If you follow the laws it costs you an arm and a leg and the gov't is going to be all over you. If you hire an illegal, it's lots cheaper for you, the paperwork isn't there and Juan gets what he thinks is a kings wage. We need to do better. I don't have anything against someone form Mexico or South America wanting to come here to work and live. But we need to establish a workable system that doesn't bankrupt the farmer too.
Considering all the headaches and paperwork and costs, wouldn't it be easier and just as cheap to hire local talent at a decent wage? Yeah, I know, you can't get anyone to work on a farm like a slave for minimum wage plus or even twice min wage in many places. It's a pickle.
