I am thinking that you are using the wrong pump. First, it is unlikely to have too long of a stroke. As things wear, the stroke gets SHORTER. That is my first clue. Next, you say that the replacement pump causes an oil leak because it does not match up with the flange on the engine. Hmmmmmmm. These two items tell me that your problem is the WRONG PUMP. As such, might it be simpler to get the correct fuel pump? After all, you are looking for a needle in a haystack. Finding a 6 volt positive ground electric pump is simply not going to be easy. Finding the CORRECT fuel pump may be more easily accomplished.
