We have two doors with openers, both old enough not to have the safety lights on the door frame (1980's?) I have also replaced the drive gear on both of them. With seven vehicles in the family, we have lots of remotes. Several have three buttons, so the two openers are programmed for different buttons. I have found that the plastic case of the remotes get nasty after 20 plus years in the cars/trucks. I remove the battery and circuit board and run the other pieces through the dishwasher. A little brush/ air cleaning of the circuit board, especially around the micro switch, a new battery, and they work MUCH better.
