I've found that E-bay is better than the "local" scrap yards for obsolete farm equipment parts, and fantastic for equipment manuals and part books. Shipping can be a bear, but I've still driven a couple hours to get "truck freight" items. Who'd think to look in the newspaper classifieds in places 100 miles away for a C123 block at a decent price?
Where else are you going to connect someone looking for a 1940's rake manual, with the guy who got the box of 'useless' old books at grandpa's auction, or who ended up with the NOS part even the dealers can't source.
