I put the in-line heaters in the lower radiator hose on my tractors. I've put at least a half doz. on various small tractors, under 60hp, and they've worked good. Worst thing that could happen if it doesn't work out you would have to replace the hose, which I've never had to do. I plug them in about an hour before use or put them on a timer. I use the ones made by Katz and TSC or Auto-Zone carry them.
