IH Industrial 2544 blcok heater

I put the in-line heaters in the lower radiator hose on my tractors. I've put at least a half doz. on various small tractors, under 60hp, and they've worked good. Worst thing that could happen if it doesn't work out you would have to replace the hose, which I've never had to do. I plug them in about an hour before use or put them on a timer. I use the ones made by Katz and TSC or Auto-Zone carry them.

I have a head bolt type heater on my w-6, a tank type heater on one of the m's, lower radiator hose heater on other m, two frost plug heaters on the 1466, all seem to work well after plugging in for a few hours. The magnet type work well as a magnet for picking things up off the floor when I drop something. four of them did thaw out the ice in the rear end of the w-6 once many years ago, have since changed oil in it, no more problems.

I put one in my 2424 a few years ago. There is a plug near the carb that came out, and the block heater went in. I can't remember now where I got the heater, how much it cost, or what brand it was. But it went right into the block. I probably went through NAPA.

Why would you put a block heater on a gas tractor?

Anyway, easiest is to get a freeze plug heater and replace one of the freeze plugs in the side of the block. I know some people prefer the tank heater but I personally don't like having that proboscis hanging off the side of the engine.
