You're picture of the post on the loader should be proof enough! That pretty clearly defines how it was installed, with the grass clump and all attached. Pretty sure here we had a road bill passed last year for road money in MI that the contractors now have to provide a warranty for work. That way, if something such as yours would occur, or something happened to a project due to their incompetence, shoddy work, poor design, etc, they will be required to fix at their own expense. You shouldn't have to pay for that.
