And I picked some fresh lettuce this evening. The only veggie I have ever harvested in mid October is spuds until today. This summer our lettuce got away from us and went to seed. With Marilyns bad hip and me running to my dads house about every day there wasn't time to pay attention to the lettuce. So I mowed it off six weeks ago or so, maybe sooner than that. Everything in the garden went limp as a rag except the lettuce, it's still flourishing.
