I am not sure what the market in CA is but that is a solid $4500-5500 tractor around here. The fellow saying $7000 have not been to any sales lately. There are not many two cylinders bring that kind of money now.
This is a nice tractor and means something to you as it was your Dad's. The trouble is it is not rare. The wide front is not as common but the rest can be bought in many places. Also the demand is going down too.
I started farming with a JD "G". If I had to keep it to use I would hardly take one as a gift. They where not fun to operate 10-12 hours day. You where dirty and tired from operating that beast. Plus it was NOT a large tractor anymore. My Uncle's MF 65 would run circles around it in the field.
