It's kind of a running joke around that Jeff is about the only farmer in Lewis county still milking 50 cows. One of the fellows who rents land from us was asking if Jeff was going to expand. Our original barn held 70 cows. We rebuilt to the point he can house 50 milkers and a few young stock. The money ran out, so that's where we stopped. He's going on 3 years now and the plan is to finish rebuilding the rest of the barn in the next year or two. The renter guy just smiled. I told him if the granddaughter sticks with it, there will probably have to be another expansion. The renter guy just grinned wider. The rent guy just expanded from 60 something to a couple of hundred because he had kids coming of age and they wanted to be in on the operation. He said, "Yup, it's begun. You expand a little here, expand a little there".......................................................................... (smile)
