If you're set on Austin, the pink granite Capital building is magnificent. Either use your phone or ask the nice lady at the info desk to recommend a BBQ joint, there are plenty in the city. I don't know if you drink/dance but Austin is famous for it's night life along Sixth Street. Be forewarned, there is a saying "Keep Austin Weird" and if you move around the city you are sure to find some "weird" people, places and things. A single weekend isn't long enough to experience all of it. As stated below, there is nothing more TEXAS than the Alamo in San Antonio but that is a whole nother trip...
