First off before you do anything, talk to the folks at Import Tractor. They will tell you what the parts situation for that model is and probably help you out on the knock. Then decide what course of action to take. And just for the record it isn't just the Longs that had tranny issues. Every 1355/65 we sold eventually started jumping out of gear, and the last two Hesston/Fiats I saw at auctions had tranny issues, also. I know I am in the minority, but I was never enamored with any of the fiats of that era, no matter who built them. Always figured Oliver would have been way further ahead to have remodeled and updated the 550.
