I had a 4010 gas when I started farming over 50 years ago. It ran terrible, but when pulling settled down and pulled. It burned 9 gallons per hour. I talked to a old JD mech. He said lets try a cast iron 3020 carb and bore the jets out. That made a big difference. Only used 5 gallons of fuel after that and ran so much better. The original carb was an square pot metal carb. Don't know what carb you have but that what I did. Good luck John
