We recently picked up a Farmall 300 that runs nice and is fairly nice condition. However there is a somewhat loud clunking in the forward area of the transmission anytime the clutch is let out. Even in neutral. We creeped it around so not to create more damage. I'd like a few suggestions as where to start looking for the problem. It is a steady clunk, so I doubt it is a bearing. More than likely a broken tooth in a gear. I dropped the rectangle cover under the tractor and drained the rather milky looking oil. That gear looks to be in very good condition. Next I figure I'll drop the TEE looking cover to look in there. I know we will have to split the tractor and probably pull the TA section out. But I just thought I get a few professional suggestions before we get started. Thanks.
