Local guy has the idea that foxtail was a staple of the chicks. An abundance of seed and the grasshoppers stayed low to the ground. With the herbicide grass control it has really put the hurt on foxtail. I agree with you that there are multiple reasons but I think different farming practices is one of the bigger ones. I applaud you for keeping some waterways, terraces, and harder to justify fencelines. It's all too easy to look at it as just business and the bottom dollar so screw every other plant and animal, but those are the guys that usually make it big too.
