There seems to be so many regulations that it is hard to figure what is right or wrong. I worked in county government. At work we had a pickup truck slide in unit that carried 240 gal of diesel, 25 gal. of both motor oil and hydraulic oil. Some where I read where municipalities are exempt from the hazmat requirement for petroleum products. Before I retired the drivers had to have the hazmat endorsement, which I had, but since then everybody is allowed to drive it. The current drivers of the unit now do not have the hazmat endorsement.
The county also has a pickup with a mounted tank that holds 50 gal of diesel and gasoline. The tank is white but has a flammable emblem on the tank.
