The destruction of any kind of property like this is just plain STUPID and WASTEFUL....but it's a government agency so it doesn't surprise me .
Seriously, they probably had to spend money to rent the two machines, or at least pay to get them on site. Then they had to pay money to get the machines on site, and prepped to destroy. In other words, it probably cost the snot out of them to destroy them instead of using them to make money.
There's no reason they couldn't have put them on a site like Govdeals and sold them at auction, AND MADE MONEY to put into the coffers, instead of wasting what was there like most governmental agencies tend to do.....
