Problems with dumping are not inherent to the hoist type, any of them properly designed and applied will dump a load off a trailer. The problems are due to under designed systems required meet a given sales price. Some of the bargain brands are downright laughable. Bottom line is you price shop to the bottom dollar you can expect to own an under designed trailer that has problems not only dumping problems but problems with every other system and also will be a rust bucket in 3-4 years. The lone legit complaint about the twin cylinder hoists is a load that is not only very heavy but badly off center will will twist the bed as the easy side will go up firs sometimes leaving a permanent twist in the bed. I own a Pronovost made in Canada. Paid a premium price for it 15 years ago and have never been sorry I spent the extra $ to get a quality dump trailer.
