Was working with a bank on a large construction loan, head honcho at the bank said an FDIC inspector had red flagged my folder and they would have to charge me more (much more) I was already locked in so... couple of years later it came time to roll the construction loan and once again the bank said I was in violation of FDIC policy.
I left that meeting and got on the net, took some digging but I found a FDIC complaint page.I explained the issues and requested a copy of their policies.
Couple of weeks later I got a call from Arlington W VA, "this is such and such from the FDIC and I just got off the phone with your bank and sir, the FDIC does not have any inspectors nor do we have any policies".Never saw that banker again!!!!
