Anyone ever complain to BBB?

Been having issues getting a house loan closed. The folks doing it are taking forever, months beyond
target close date. They rarely answer the phone or return calls, even if I did talk to them and they
said they would check something and get back they never did. Today I finally had enough and made a
report to the BBB. I sent in the online complaint at 1pm and they said they would contact the morgage
folks within a couple days. 2 hours later I got a call from the mortgage folks begging me to except
their apology and promissing to close by the end of next week. Lol, I really didn't expect much if
anything to happen, but it sure did, and quick too! We'll see how it goes tho.

A couple of times. Had health insurance one time that didn't want to pay when the youngest boy was born. The agent kept saying he'd take care of it. I took the policy and showed it to the hospital administrator,he said I was covered. Every contact with anybody else at the company said they wouldn't pay it.
I turned them in to the BBB,they paid the claim in ten days.

Then I had a Lazy Boy recliner that I'd bought at a local store. The heat and vibrate quit working while it was under warrantee. The wife took it in and they said it only covered parts, not labor. She told them to fix it. We went and got it when they said it was done. The vibrate worked, but the heat didn't. The store said they'd have to order the part.
We started getting billed for the labor on the labor for the vibrate. We called them every time we got a bill and told them, fix the heat and we'll pay the bill. This went on for a year. Every month,a bill. Every month a phone call. Every month, somebody would say "I didn't know. We'll order the part.". After a year,I gave up and called the BBB. They never did finish fixing it,but we never got another bill.

I think I did once, on a computer I ordered over the phone. It arrived without the programs they had promised. I called, and they sent them, but with some kind of statement saying that I agreed to keep it as long as they provided the stuff. It all got returned and I got my money back.

A month ago I was at the county office trying, once again, to get some property records straight. Not mine, but property I'm interested in. Finally got someone's attention. Took some paper work from the first floor clerks office up to the 5th floor real property office. (They apparently don't do that?) The guy at real property(fortunately I had dealt with him in the past) said they just did updates, so it could be a month. A couple days later I checked on line and it was fixed!!!!!!!!

I have used the BBB online a couple of times and highly recommend it . When you get jacked around and told they cant do anything then file a complaint with the BBB you would be amazed how quickly the company butt kisser gets ahold of you and tries to make you happy. One time was with Verizon , possibly the worst customer service I have ever had on multiple occasions finally had enough . Man did they change their tune in a hurry . The most effective tool I have found when dealing with "tools" from corporate America.

I had River City Diesel do some work on my 6.7 to get more mileage. None EPA approved. They were to have removed a certain item and charged me for it. It was not removed and their cost were exorbitant for older, obsolete programs. What do you do, get a bigger feller to even things up? I had gotten recommendations from others before I went there??

I wouldn't trust them in an empty meat house.

Yes, I have made complaints to BBB and gotten results. Also in this area all of the major TV stations have a "On Your Side" person that helps out local consumers. Most of the bad providers don't want their behavior aired on TV, so almost all of them quickly knuckle under and settle the matter.

Not the BBB but the FDIC.

Was working with a bank on a large construction loan, head honcho at the bank said an FDIC inspector had red flagged my folder and they would have to charge me more (much more) I was already locked in so... couple of years later it came time to roll the construction loan and once again the bank said I was in violation of FDIC policy.

I left that meeting and got on the net, took some digging but I found a FDIC complaint page.I explained the issues and requested a copy of their policies.
Couple of weeks later I got a call from Arlington W VA, "this is such and such from the FDIC and I just got off the phone with your bank and sir, the FDIC does not have any inspectors nor do we have any policies".Never saw that banker again!!!!

BBB will only work if the one you are complaining about is a member. I was having problems getting a refund from a online sports outlet in Texas. Went on line to Attorney General's office of Al. my home state and the Attorney General's office for Texas and filed complaint. Had letter and refund in just a few days.

Have tried once. No luck. Shirked out of a 1700$ by BBB business owner. They later lost 3 lawsuits for similar practices and reopened under new name. The one helpful employee was murdered on his home doorstep the following year. I later found out the owner that stole my money was in jail in the 1980's for drug trafficking but had his sentence reduced for turning in his partners. They were caught running bales of drugs by boat. Odd enough, in his office there was a picture of a 30 ft offshore shark fishing boat, he had been quite proud to mention that it was his true love.

I turned a local heat and air place into the BBB once. They were over charging my Mom and not doing service they claimed they were doing. It was resolved quickly when the place found out.
Another time I turned in a national publishing company to the state attorney general. They were using some unethical tactics trying to scare me into their subscribing to their rag claiming I had authorized subscriptions to be billed later. The AR AG said that they were out of IA and he turned it over to them. Within a month I had heard from the IA AG and the matter was taken care of.

A friend who owned a floral business was not a bbb member, well someone was upset that they didn't get there deposit back when they cancelled wedding flowers last minute, so they complained to the bbb who then contacted the florist and basically said if you pay and become a bbb member you can dispute these complaints against you, if not then they just get filed or whatever as negative. Ever since then I kinda felt the bbb was a biased and crooked joke as most type organizations are

I was lost in corporate not my "responsibillty" foolishness at the Bank of America. Told the manager his choice was to get my money or go home and put on his best suit, because he was going to be on "7 on your side". Impossible became possible. They really don't want to look bad on TV.

I never dealt with the BBB, but I was under the impression that they keep records on consumer complaints and the resolutions of those complaints. If, and only if, a consumer checks with the BBB BEFORE they deal with a business, they will find out about reported complaints and how those complaints were resolved.
To the best of my knowledge, BBB has no enforcement powers except the reporting of complaints and record keeping. That can be a strong incentive for businesses to avoid getting involved in unresolved complaints.

I've filed complaints against Verizon with both the BBB and FCC.

A gal at our local BBB said they get so many complaints about Veriozon they can't handle them all, so they have to ship them to an huge BBB facility in New Jersey. Not much else happened.

My issue with Verizon is we have wifi with them. Our bandwidth usage gradually increases until we go over our monthly contract and are charged overage fees. We then increase our monthly limit by 2 gigs. Within a couple months, and without changing our equipment or habits, we're above the new max. Imagine that! Same thing over and over. We're now at 18 gigs per month. When I complained to the FCC (they have a link on their website) a dialog opened with Verizon. The last email I got from the FCC said I would be getting a letter from Verizon, and they, the FCC, would consider my case closed. I never did get a letter from Verizon, and, again, nothing has changed. I suspect Verizon's charges are linked to how much competition they have in an area.

I have Glasswire software installed on my desktop, my wife's desktop, and my laptop so I can track how much bandwidth each unit is using. The total bandwidth usage shown by Glasswire is rarely more than 2/3 to 3/4 of what Verizon's bill shows.

BBB is a private for profit corporation. Basically exhtorting money to say nothing or nice things about their members. If your a non member then they can slam you. Doing business in rural Iowa my families business was a BBB member. In a small community, Waterloo-Cedar Falls, it was pretty much mandatory. It was easy to stay in everybody's good graces as we tried to do it right, If a job didn't go well we fixed it, and for the 2% of the general public that are complete azzholes we pd them off to keep quiet and never did a job for them again.

Fast forward about 10 years I left IA and started a company in Houston TX. The BBB dues where exorbitant and more than I could afford. I also found that the BBB isn't nearly as powerful here as in the smaller comunities in Iowa. I never had a BBB complaint against me but did try to resolve a couple issues with other business's I was dealing with and got "0" results.

I have the verizon internet and useage has been steady. I had similar problems with AT&T though.

If you are in a neighborhood there is a chance someone is hacking into your wifi and using the bandwith. "MAC" spoofing is one way.

I have dealt with them and they are a paper tiger. They have no authority and the offending party does not have to deal with them. The most is if you look up a company (sears) they have hundreds of negative or unanswered complaints!!!! In you case call the bank regulators or state. If the offending party is in a licenced trade the state board will get there attention quicker.

You are lucky. Neither you nor the other party realises that BBB is a pay-for-play organization.

Pay a little extra fee and you're rating never changes, regardless of complaints.

I keep up with my competitors . I build wrought iron and sometimes the job may be too big , I'm too busy , or it is not my niche . I will gladly refer the customer to a shop that can help them .

I checked the BBB and the big shop in town that was a member had complaints AND an A+ rating . The shops that did great work but were not members were not listed .

The BBB's time in the spot light has gone since the invent of the internet .

We do have a neighbor 250 yards away, and I always assumed that was too far to hack into it. I think I'll take my laptop and try it from an equal distance.

I would add that with internet there are sites for almost everything, angies list, trip advisor you get the picture. Probably much faster than BBB and more effective.

Reread the details of the case, he actually only introduced the shipper and the smugglers and testified against them later.

That's seems far enough away for a home wifi. I know our laptop works in the backyard but I haven't tried it at the barn.

However, wifi can do strange things. I remember on various overnights at hotels I could sometimes pick up wifi from hotels that were 300 or 400 meters away and not be able to pick up the one for the hotel I was in. Radio waves can do strange things.

That said, I wouldn't put it past verizon or any of those companies to try to hose people. I know AT&T tried it on me. Our verizon useage has spiked at times but so far I've been able to account for it.
