On April 8th, 2016, at night, a black Camaro 1SS was clocked at 171 mph on Hwy 61 in northern Minnesota. Deputy Sheriff pursued but could only get up to a shade under 140. (Many patrol cars are chipped for 140) However, the driver pulled over when he saw the red lights and stated he didn't know how fast he was going. Speeds like that are tame for the German autobahn where speeds of over 200 mph have been clocked during normal traffic. The all time official record for the autobahn however, was set in 1938 by a Mercedes W125 with a V12 engine. 268.8 mph.
