AGCO Power (formally known as Sisu Diesel) has only two cylinder bores and two stroke dimensions across their entire product line. Their largest 6-cyl is an 8.4 liter which isn't enough for the larger combines and sprayers. The 9.8L 7-cyl engine was a way to get more displacement and power without re-tooling for a larger bore or stroke by combining off-the-shelf heads from a 3-cyl and 4-cyl.
This concept was carried even further with the new V-12 that powers the largest Challenger tractors. That engine is essentially just two 8.4L sixes sharing a common block and crank.
