I am trying to hook up a 5 foot Bush Hog cutter to a 1985 John Deere 750 and am finding it complicated. I have no problems mounting it to my 1956 John Deere 420. I noticed that the bottom linkage bars are 30" long on the 420 but only 27" on the 750. The top links vary by several inches too. Now I do realize that the 750 is a smaller tractor (1800-2000 lbs) versus about 3300 lbs for the 420 but I've always thought there would be no problems. The reason I am using the 750 is that it can move more slowly than the 420 through heavy brush. Once I connected the bottom pins, the top link was difficult to do and I could not lift the mower. I felt the resulting geometry was fighting itself. How do I get around this problem?
