Momma cats tend to be more consistent mousers, but a whole lot of toms are very good at it too.
We had a husky Tom cat that rarely showed up at the food bowl, he had a route around the pasture, he would sit and wait for stripped gophers (ground squirrels) to pop out of their holes. You knew he had a good day hunting when he brought one home, and yes Tom cats will sometimes bring something home to feed others.
Had a black Tom cat that would bring me stuff and lay it at my feet, not always dead. I learned not to pet him in the dark when I would get home at 1:00 in the morning, but I'll just leave it at that. Yeash........
House cat is a neutered male, he will catch stuff that creeps into the basement, with no formal training he still loves the hunt. We also don't see any spiders in the basement any more.
