I contracted to aaa for 12 years all in said and done when I ended my affiliation I was broke and had a wore out tow truck...

The service you receive on a break down is solely dependent on the contractor, they are actually real people with a life. My kids were getting into the 7 year old range I liked to go camping and sports were interring into there life so I did not renew my contract.

AAA went thru all the other local tow company's thru the years no one will contract to them locally now and I don't blame them. There are other origination's that pay much better. I was after the AAA customer base "Yankee's with money that relocated to live out retirement playing golf".. I got some good customers from it that became good friends for life but the locals were were a PITA...

My rep Lew Beman a real good old boy looked after me well what ever it took to keep me happy he did it. For the next 12 years even tho I was not under contract Lew told me to accept AAA he would see I got paid. I kept taking AAA from my customers and filled in when the other AAA contractors were busy are wanted a week end off life was good.

I turned in my tickets every 6 mo the last batch I turned in I was told I was not a contractor I said send the tickets to Lew he would handle it... They told me Lew retired and the good old boy system retired with him...

I still tote a AAA card and pay for my kids to have one. AAA does not work well around here but it did in the towns they went to collage in. When there was a problem I had AAA tow it to my shop FREE :) I did not have to lose a haft a day going to get it. Either way it going to cost me to provide a life time warranty with free towing for the small cost of AAA its worth it to me and I own a tow truck...

I have had AAA tow my tow truck, it slung the belts off in Raleigh NC I had them tow me to a steak house called the wife to bring me some belts and tools.... I went in and ate me a steak when I walked out to my truck she showed up with the tools and belts...

Not all break downs are a total disaster...

I look at it this way I hope I never need to call anyone again when My Ox is is a ditch if I do I will take my chances with AAA at least I have someone to complain to if it goes bad....

Today's Featured Article - The Nuts and Bolts of Fasteners - Part 2 - by Curtis Von Fange. In our previous article we discussed capscrews, bolts, and nuts along with their relative hardness and thread sizes. In this segment we will finish up on our fasteners and then work with ways to keep them from loosening up in the field. Capscrews, bolts and nuts are not the only means of holding two parts together. When dealing with thinner metals like sheet tin, a long bolt and ... [Read Article]
