Bob, I sure would like to know the reason, but I couldn't get the other side of the story. This area of the country traditionally has the lowest prices for feeder calves in the United States. Fat cattle are always at least 10 cents below the market. I have a gut feeling that this may have something to do with buyers. There are only one or two major buyers and no competition. I do know the manager and some of the help would bid and sometimes buy animals if they were ridiculously below market price. I'm thinking maybe the buyers want to run the market. There may not be much of a market if no one looks out for the seller.
