Bruce your cattle are almost a different species than some of the beef calves/cattle we handle. My good friend that is a retired dairy guy is finding that out. His OLD light gates just do not work for beef cattle/calves.
We have six foot tall short alleys leading up to the main head gate. Every now and then we get a calf that will get over the sides. I have debated putting top rails over the alleys. Many of the factory setup have them now.
