I didn't want to hijack David G post about jury duty.
I got called in for jury duty for the first time ever. I didn't get picked but a few of my friends did. Local couple divorces about 5 yrs ago. They have been at each others necks ever since. Man sues for slander. Ex-wife counter sues for harrasment and distress. 4 days of he-said, she-said. Ex-wife proves the unflattering things she said about the plaintiff were totally true. So slander is dismissed. Ex-wife proves harrasment to the tune of $250,000.
Sounds like the ex-husbands attorney was pretty peeved that his client mislead him into a losing battle.
During the selection process, it was pretty clear the ex-wifes attorney was hunting for sympathetic women to put in the jury box. My friends told me that during the deliberations, it was the women jurrors that didn't think the ex-wife deserved much in damages.
Out of 100 people called in for selection, there was only 2 that didn't show. I was as trucker and I think the other was in jail in another county.
