The number of seeds per pound were always stated on the products I purchased. Couple that with using radial meters I always had a good handle on what I was dropping. True in that some good yielder's threw large seed but a lot of the "workhorse" varieties that adapted well to my conditions ranged 3000 to 3800 seeds per pound. It just so happened the best for me based on what the weigh wagon said were more than often small seeds but many seeds produced per plant. I would never say that there were not large sized soybean seeds that yielded well as area test plots would show a mix of both large and small seed varieties that performed well.
